Atlantic Builders homes are in some of the most beautiful locations in Virginia—locations that are as convenient as they are attractive.
As an award-winning, regional builder, we’ve delivered thousands of brand-new homes, creating extraordinary relationships along the way.
Inside, our homes provide every space and feature you could desire. And outside, they are in fantastic communities that offer you every advantage from their prime locations.
It’s from your new Atlantic Builders home that you can enjoy the fun of lock-and-leave day trips, and we wanted to give you a few suggestions.
Of course, it’s always fun to spend a day shopping or at the movies, but the following experiences are something greater than the every day, sure to create even better memories.
So, come with us as we explore a few of Atlantic Builders homes and communities, and some amazing lock-and-leave day trips nearby.
Pines at Kettle Run is a picturesque new community of 10-acre homesites in Nokesville just off Fitzwater Drive (Rt. 652) and west of Rt. 28. Here, you’ll find a great selection of our most popular homes as well as some innovative new designs, including our most loved main-level-living home, the Bridgewater. Of course, there are plenty of nearby shopping, dining, and recreational opportunities in Bristow and Gainesville, but what do you do when you want a day trip?
Our first recommendation is to travel back in time a bit and explore the historical town of Harpers Ferry. A microcosm of the growth and growing pains of our relatively new country, Harpers Ferry invites you to enjoy buildings that stand witness to our past, museums that preserve that past, local shops, fantastic dining, abundant nature trails, watersports on the Shenandoah and Potomac rivers, and so much more. It’s a wonderful place to spend a day, and even better if you add a night or two at a B&B!
Our second day trip will take you back in time geologically, as you plunge into the very Earth itself. It’s time to go on an adventure with Grand Caverns Spelunking. Found in the Shenandoah Valley, Grand Caverns is the “oldest continually operating show cave in the United States.” And now they are offering various spelunking tours (based on age and skill level) where you are guided by professionals through pitch black caves lit only by the beams of your headlamp. And some of the underground pathways date back to the 1800s!
Stafford County is a wonderful place to call home, especially when you live in one of our new single-family homes coming soon to Hampstead. Both main-level-living and two-story homes will be offered, including some new home designs you won't want to miss. Set on over 3-acre homesites, Hampstead will reward homeowners with a quiet, wooded neighborhood that’s still close enough to I-95 for easy access to Quantico and the Pentagon. Plus, there’s plenty of nearby shopping, dining, and entertainment. But when you want something a little more…
Head to the amusement park that’s been bringing the thrills and fun since 1975: Kings Dominion! Get ready to have a day to remember as you brave over 60 rides (including 13 roller coasters!), shows, attractions, and a 20-acre waterpark. Plus, there are even rides and attractions just for kids until they grow tall enough to ride the big ones. Add in some tasty treats and games where you can win prizes, and you’ve got a day trip you’ll never forget!
Another day trip back in time will take you to >Mount Vernon. This was George Washington’s residence and plantation, and became a tourist destination almost immediately after his death. Luckily, so many people over the generations understood the importance of this land and began preserving it, leading it to being declared a National Historic Landmark in 1960. When you visit, be prepared to experience the true history of our first president and his family, his times, and the lives of those who worked the land (voluntarily and involuntarily). It’s an honest, engaging look at the evolution of our country, one that will resonate for years to come.
The Shenandoah Valley is a gorgeous place to live, especially in Augusta County and especially in a new Atlantic Builders home in the Towns at Evershire. These new townhomes feature 3–4 bedrooms, 2.5–3.5 baths, a garage, and an open main level floor plan with expandable living space on the lower level. An airy kitchen for cooking, room for entertaining, and space for family living are other highlights of these homes. And being located on Hopeman Parkway, the Towns of Evershire is convenient to Charlottesville, Staunton, and Richmond—and that makes it easy to plan some day trips!
One great day trip to consider is some agritourism, which is a fun way of learning about real life on a farm. >My Peeps Farm is the perfect place to enjoy this experience, as you meet an adorable herd of Nigerian Dwarf goats! At the farm, you can take a goat keeping workshop and learn all the ins and outs of breeding and caring for these adorable animals—and all the health benefits of their milk! My Peeps Farm also offers goat snuggling sessions, which can be scheduled to fit your schedule. And when you leave, you can take home some available-to-purchase goat milk soap, fantastic for those with sensitive skin!
And to complement our day trip suggestion to Mount Vernon, head a little east from Augusta County and you’ll come to another founding father’s home: Thomas Jefferson’s >Monticello. Former home of the author of the Declaration of Independence, inventor, farmer, and scholar, a visit to his home is a marvelous educational experience into the mind of a complex individual (especially in regards to slavery). Tour his home, stroll his gardens, explore exhibits of his life and times, and delve into the minds of a unique person who helped shape the formation of our country.
The lock-and-leave lifestyle is all about flexibility, and Atlantic Builders homes make it easier than ever to embrace that way of living. Our innovative approach to homebuilding ensures that whether you're a jet-setter, a busy professional, or simply someone who enjoys the freedom to travel, your home will always be ready for you, no matter where life takes you. Because, after the day trip is over, you’ll always want to come right back home!
