Beat the Heat Near Your New Atlantic Builders Home

Summer is most definitely here!

But with the heat comes all sorts of outdoor adventures that are only available (or, at least, are more fun) in the summer!

And many of those exciting opportunities happen near your new Atlantic Builders home!

That’s not surprising, really, since we choose only the best areas to build our new homes. Because providing for our homeowners outside their homes is just as important to us.

Let’s explore a few of the communities in which we build and find exciting, relaxing, and fun ways to beat the summer heat near your new Atlantic Builders home.

Summer Fun in Fredericksburg

We’re proud to build new homes and communities in the City of Fredericksburg. It’s a beautiful city full of history, restaurants, shopping, and fun things to do in the summer.

For example, you could live in Afton Villas. This 55+ lifestyle community of innovative attached Villa homes with 2-car garages and spacious main level owner’s suites provides many amenities that will let you enjoy the outdoors, including 2 pickleball courts and monthly complimentary lessons!

And coming soon just a short drive from Fredericksburg is Keswick Commons. Here, we’re building two collections of townhomes in this popular Spotsylvania Courthouse community. Just outside your home, you’ll be able to beat the heat in the community pool and clubhouse. But what if you want even more?

Here are two ways to drink more of the summer in. First, drink it in quite literally at the Hops & Happy Hour. This is the best way to wet your whistle this summer. Tour all the delicious cocktails, craft beers, ciders, and wine this fine city has to offer. Every Monday through Thursday, from June 3 to July 25, bring your Triple H (Hops & Happy Hour, for short) passport to a participating watering hole, order one of their happy hour items or selected drinks, and earn a passport stamp. Get four stamps and you can drop your Triple H passport off at the Fredericksburg Visitor Center for the chance to win a prize! Just make sure to keep cool (i.e., drink) responsibly.

And if the heat has you feeling a little more than thirsty, eat your fill at Summer Restaurant Week (July 26 to August 4). Just like the Triple H, you’ll get a passport for Summer Restaurant Week. Dine at participating restaurants, get your passport stamped for each one, and turn in your passport for a chance to win prizes. Not only will you be supporting local businesses, but you’ll also find new favorite restaurants to enjoy after Restaurant Week is over. Win, win!

Prince William County Beats the Heat

Living in Prince William County means you’ll be surrounded by nature and heritage sites, while also being just a short drive away from all the shops, restaurants, and activities you desire.

At Pines at Kettle Run in Nokesville, we bring Prince William nature to your door. Here, each homesite is 10 acres, giving you all the space you could ever dream of having. Providing the best in one-level and 2-story living, this community offers some of our most innovative and popular home designs, including our new Bridgewater. Located just west of Rt. 28, Pines at Kettle Run puts plenty of shopping, restaurants, and recreation opportunities minutes away in Bristow and Gainesville.

Another fantastic Atlantic Builders community in Prince William County is Doves Farm. This small neighborhood features 1+-acre homesites and six of our renowned home designs, including one-level and 2-story options. Central to everything the county has to offer, Doves Farm is less than 3 miles to all the shopping, restaurants, and activities in Manassas. It also gives you easy access to Rt. 234, Rt. 28, and I-66, which provides many alternatives for commuting to major employment hubs.

And from your new Atlantic Builders home, you can party away the heat on Friday nights beginning on July 5, at the Fridays at 5 Concert Series. From 5–9pm, VA StrEATS, Luxe Entertainment, and Prince William Department of Parks & Recreation put on this free outdoor event where the music flows, the kids can get their faces painted, and food trucks, beer, and wine will be on site. It’s a perfect way to celebrate the summer and the end of the work week!

Beat the heat by pretending it’s the middle of winter at the Christmas in July Holiday Market. On July 20, from 10am–5pm, the ARTfactory is hosting a celebration of all things cold and jolly. Get an early start to your holiday shopping by supporting local artists and vendors. And you can spread even more holiday cheer by donating school supplies to Georgetown South community children and canned goods to the House of Mercy food pantry. Happy holidays… half a year early!

Fun in the Sun Near Charlottesville

Picturesque Charlottesville is a city that likes to take a deep breath of fresh air. The rolling hills of this central Virginia location provide a wonderful backdrop for your new Atlantic Builders home, and a great place to enjoy the summer.

Atlantic Builders newest neighborhood in the Shenandoah Valley is Overlook. Located in Stuart’s Draft, homeowners will enjoy many nearby conveniences including shops, restaurants, schools, and parks. The single-family home collection of Overlook is also less than 5 miles from both I-64 and I-81, which gives you easy access to nearby Staunton and its vibrant arts and dining scenes on its historic main street.

Another wonderful Atlantic Builders community is Townhomes at Evershire. These new townhomes feature 3–4 bedrooms, 2.5–3.5 baths, 1-car garages, and an open main-level floor plan with room for entertaining as well as space for family living. And all convenient to schools, shopping, downtown Waynesboro, Charlottesville, Staunton, Richmond, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Skyline Drive, and the Appalachian Trail.

And since we just mentioned the Blue Ridge Parkway, Skyline Drive, and the Appalachian Trail, we must bring up a place to beat the heat at the Blue Ridge Tunnel. Right where all these byways meet, you’ll find a tunnel that was originally built for the railroad between 1850 and 1858. What it is now is a really cool, long tunnel that stretches 4,273 ft. (almost a mile) into the darkness. You can bike through the tunnel and even explore with your 4-legged leashed friends, but be warned: there isn’t any light inside. If you want to see where you’re going (and trust us, you do), bring some high-powered flashlights!

Sometimes, when you want to beat the heat, you have to fight fire with fire. And by that, we mean celebrating the heat of summer with some hot soul music at Soul of Cville. From August 16–17, Ix Art Park brings soul back to Charlottesville with live music, a fashion show, and a stupendous market celebrating African American artwork and crafts. Spotlighting the diversity of this fantastic city, the Soul of Cville will turn a hot summer night into a cool summer memory.
